About Acudetox Therapy

This relaxing treatment, delivered by Our Hope's Certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialists according to the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association(NADA) protocol can enhance recovery at any phase. It is unique, in that it is effective regardless of the client’s level of motivation and tends to increase her ability to effectively participate in other aspects of therapy. It opens up the possibilities of the body, mind, and spirit, treating the whole woman.

Acudetox therapy involves gently placing five small sterilized disposable stainless steel needles in specific sites in each ear and leaving them in while clients sit quietly for 30 to 45 minutes. Stimulation of these ear points detoxifies the body, reduces stress and anxiety, lessens depression and insomnia, and alleviates the craving for substances, thus aiding in recovery.

Acudetox therapy is recommended daily for acute detoxification, three times per week for post acute withdrawal or smoking cessation, and weekly for relapse prevention.

Our Hope also offers treatment with acupressure seeds which are effective for use between Acudetox therapy sessions or for individuals who do not wish to be treated with needles. These small seeds are placed on the back of the ear and provide a low level of pressure to a relaxing point, which may be increased by pressing on the seeds during moments of tension or craving. Seeds typically stay on for several days to a week and may be removed at any time.
