The truth about feelings

May 05, 2014

When we encounter a situation in life that evokes strong feelings like anxiety, anger, fear, frustration, or sadness it is helpful to remember feelings are not facts.  This allows one to take a deep breath and take a step back so that you can look at the facts before taking any action.  Sometimes our reactions are not  so much about the current situation as about an unresolved situation in the past that we are not trying to "fix" which can lead us to flawed decision making.  So when you experience strong emotions, try to remind yourself that feelings are not facts.
